You can now pay your library fees in the new Helmet online library

The new, developing Helmet online library will adopt online payment on 4 March 2024. You can also pay your library fines and fees through the existing Helmet.fi website as before.

Online payment has been made easier than ever in the new Helmet online library. You can pay your library fees in the ‘Fines’ tab under ‘Your account’. A receipt with the details of the payment will be sent to your email. The receipt can also be printed before checkout. Paid fees are immediately removed from the library system’s customer information and the Helmet online library.

How to pay online

  • Log in to the new Helmet online library using your library card number and PIN code.
  • Go to the ‘Fines’ tab in ‘Your account’.
  • The online library will retrieve your unpaid fees from the library system.
  • Select the fees you want to pay.
  • You will enter the online payment service and be asked to accept the terms of payment.
  • You can pay with online banking, card, or mobile payment methods.
  • After paying, you will automatically return to the Helmet online library.
  • Online payment uses the email addresses listed in the Finna account settings and library card settings under the ‘Profile’ tab of ‘Your account’. A payment confirmation from the payment intermediary (Paytrail) will be sent to the Finna account email address.
  • You will receive an online library receipt for the paid fees to both the Finna account email address and the library card email address (if you have saved a different address for each).
  • On the ‘Fines’ tab, you’ll find a PDF receipt for your most recent transaction, which you can save or print if you wish.
  • Finally, log out of the Helmet online library.

You can pay almost all library fees online, with the exception of reimbursement fees for works that are more than 60 days overdue.

The payment provider of the new Helmet online library’s Suomi.fi online payment is Paytrail. The terms and conditions of online payment can be found in the service.

If you have any problems, please contact the customer service of your local library.
