Multilingual Month celebrates multilingualism

During Multilingual Month, libraries will host a number of multilingual events.

Multilingual Month is an annual period of time between International Mother Language Day (21 February) and the World Poetry Day (21 March) that celebrates multilingualism.

During Multilingual Month, libraries host various events that highlight the richness of language and examine the importance of mother tongue and languages through art, gatherings and doing things together.

In Helmet libraries, for example, stories will be read in several different languages.

Examples of the program:

  • Ukrainian children’s theatre club Naamiot, 21.2., 28.2., 7.3., 14.3. and 21.3., Entresse Library, Espoo
  • Easy Finnish book club, 26.2. and 19.3., Sello Library, Espoo.
  • Multilingual Poetry Night and open mic, 6.3., Tikkurila Library, Vantaa.
  • Paloma’s wordless music festival, 1.3. Mosaiikki, Martinlaakso and Myyrmäki libraries. 8.3. Hakunila, Lumo, Koivukylä and Tikkurila libraries. 11.3. Point and Länsimäki libraries. Vantaa.
