The renovation of Tikkurila Library will cause changes to the materials and services of the Helmet music depository

Tikkurila Library will be renovated from the start of 2027 onwards. There is a closed Helmet music depository shared between Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen in the basement of the library.

After the renovation, the materials of the music depository will no longer be in closed storage but available to customers in the renovated spaces of Tikkurila Library.

The Helmet music depository mostly has CDs, LPs and sheet music.

The music material will be reduced

In connection with the renovation the space for the material of the music depository will decrease. Therefore, the material has to be reduced.

Material that is not already held in the National Repository Library in Kuopio will be sent there, and the rest will be distributed to customers during a giveaway event in Tikkurila Library.

You can order CDs, LPs and sheet music from the National Repository Library to a library near you. Ordering is an interlibrary loan service that is subject to a fee. The prices of interlibrary loans vary in different cities.

You can reserve material from the music depository

Until the end of the renovation the Helmet music depository will operate in closed spaces, and you can reserve CDs, LPs and sheet music free of charge to a library near you.

The reservations will be on hold for a few weeks when the music depository moves to the temporary facilities during the renovation.
