Opening hours during Christmas and New Year
On Christmas Eve, you can visit Itäkeskus Library, Kallio Library and Rikhardinkatu Library as well as some of the self-service libraries.

There are some exceptions to the normal opening hours during Christmas and New Year. Check the opening hours on your own library’s pages. Check also the opening hours of self-service libraries. You can access self-service libraries with a library card and pin code once you have registered as a self-service library user. Libraries and opening hours
23 December and on New Year’s Eve many libraries close earlier than usual.
- On Christmas Eve, 24 December, personnel will be present in Itäkeskus, Kallio, and Rikhardinkatu Libraries in Helsinki at 10:00–16:00. Also some the self-service libraries in Espoo, Helsinki, and Kauniainen will be open.
- On Christmas Day, 25 December, the self-service libraries in Espoo, Helsinki, and Kauniainen will be open.
- On Boxing Day, 26 December, personnel will be present in Sello Library in Espoo at 10:00–18:00. Also some of the self-service libraries will be open.
- On New Year’s Day, 1 January, some of the self-service libraries will be open.
- On Epiphany, 6 January, personnel will be present in Central Library Oodi in Helsinki at 12:00–18:00 and Sello Library in Espoo at 10:00–18:00. Also the self-service libraries in Espoo, Helsinki, and Kauniainen will be open.
Mobile libraries
- The mobile libraries in Helsinki will not take the evening routes on 23–27 December, 31 December – 1 January and 6 January.
- The mobile libraries in Vantaa will not take the evening routes on 23 December – 6 January.
E-library is always open.
