What is changing in the user regulations?

  • If you plan to convene a public meeting, you will need a permission from the library.
  • A section on the Data Protection Act has been added to the user regulations.
  • Practices for returning loaned objects have been added.

Furthermore, outdated information and practices that are not used in all Helmet libraries have been removed from the user regulations:

  • Using customer computers no longer requires a library card.
  • The library will no longer send reminders about expiring debts.
  • The mention that a denial of user rights is recorded in the library’s client register has been removed from the user regulations.

Other changes include:

  • URLs have been updated, and the regulations now refer to the helmet.fi URL or the Helmet online library only.
  • The exemption from liability for damage caused by borrowed objects, CDs and similar items has been clarified, meaning that the library is not liable for any damage caused by them.
  • Terminology related to service centre libraries and patient libraries has been updated.

No changes are being made to fees.

The user regulations are based on the Public Libraries Act. When you receive a library card, you commit to following the user regulations and any changes made to them.
