Kauniainen library due for renovation

Kauniainen library is being renovated in 2025. Due to the renovation, the library is moving to temporary premises at Palokunnantie 3. In December 2024 and January 2025, the library will be only be providing basic services while moving its collections. The temporary premises will open in February 2025.

In December and January, customers can collect reservations and return loans in the library lobby. Other services and spaces are temporarily unavailable. Collections in Grankulla library are not in use during this time, and cannot be reserved.

The lobby is open for self-service weekdays at 10-17 between 2.12.24 and 2.2.25. Patrons who have user rights to the self-service library also have access to the lobby Mon-Thu 06:00-22:00 and Fri-Sun 06:00-20:00. 

Please make sure that you have your library card and a pin code when visiting the library, since it is not possible to borrow books with an ID card in December and January.

Temporary premises from February 2025

From Feb 3, 2025 at the latest, library services are available at Palokunnantie 3, Kauniainen.

The temporary premises are smaller than the current library building, which means that only the most popular parts of the collections can be accommodated. Children’s books, for example, are among the priorities. Most of the library’s services are available, but on a smaller scale than usual.

The collections at Palokunnantie can be borrowed and reserved normally. The rest of the library’s collections are kept in storage during the renovation and cannot be borrowed or reserved during this time.

The library’s interior surfaces and technology will be renewed during the renovation, as well as the bookshelves and parts of the interior design. 

The library will move back to the renovated library building at Thurmaninaukio in autumn 2025.
